iPhone Duo closed is the size of a passport, and its screens look like paper. So we made it one.

Karol Grulling, founder, GRIND IT s.r.o.

Passport turns the photo library on an iPhone Duo into a passport booklet: one original ink stamp for every country the owner has photographed, the cover on the outer screen, two facing pages across the inner one. It reads the places and dates already in the photos, on the device, with no account. Everything on this page is free to use.

The closed Duo opens like a booklet and the stamps strike one by one. 14 seconds, no sound, loops. Master · MP4 · 3840 × 1646 · 11.7 MB Cut · MP4 · 1920 × 824 · 1.9 MB

One line

Passport turns the photos on an iPhone Duo into a passport booklet, with an ink stamp for every country you have photographed.

Short

Passport is a photo app built around the iPhone Duo. Closed, the phone is the size of a passport and its outer screen becomes the cover, in the colour and wording of the owner's own country. Open it and a booklet opens with it: two facing pages of visa paper, stamped once for every country in the owner's photo library. Everything is read on the device; nothing is uploaded and there is no account.

Long

Passport reads the dates and places already stored in a photo library, groups them into trips, and prints one original ink stamp for each country visited. A stamp is printed only where several photos were taken in one place, so the booklet never shows a trip the owner did not take. On iPhone Duo the closed outer screen is the cover; unfolding opens the booklet as it opens the phone, with the hinge where the gutter of a real passport would be and nothing drawn across it. Closing returns to the cover and keeps the page. Tap a stamp and the trip spreads over both pages, the route on one and the photos on the other, and any trip becomes a short film to share, rendered on the phone. The covers, paper and stamps are original artwork, measured from 48 real passports; it is a keepsake, not a travel document, and says so on every page. Passport is made by GRIND IT s.r.o. in Slovakia and sold once, with no subscription.

What only the Duo makes possible

The cover is the outside

Closed, the outer screen shows the owner's passport cover. The phone in a pocket is the booklet in a pocket.

The hinge is the spine

Open the phone and two facing pages open with it. Nothing ever crosses the division; it sits where the gutter would be.

Close it, come back

Fold it shut on any page and it is a cover again. Open it and you are back on the page you left.

Two pages for a trip

Tap a stamp and the route takes one page, the photos the other. The reader keeps the map while leafing through the days.

The story

Most of the Duo's launch reviews reached for the same two comparisons: the closed phone is the size of a passport, and the matte inner screen feels like paper. Passport is an attempt to make those two sentences literally true in your hand.

That meant caring about the paper more than the pixels. The cover takes the colour of the owner's own country's passport, measured from the real documents, with the word that country prints on the front. The pages are that country's visa paper, not a generic cream. Every country has its own stamp: its own shape, its own ink, the entry word in its own language, struck slightly crooked because real ones are. None of it copies an actual border stamp. Pages turn like paper rather than sliding.

Passport is a solo project from Slovakia, built on the iOS 27.1 Duo APIs, made to launch with the phone.
